Have you noticed that your dog is itchier during the summer months? Do they wheeze and cough and do they sometimes have nasal discharge? If so then they could well be suffering from a pollen allergy.

It is thought that puppies born in the summer are more likely to suffer from pollen allergies, but they can affect all dogs no matter when they were born. They generally cause the dog to itch more and the itching can either be just in one particular place or it could be all over the body. The reason these itches have to be looked at is because when the dog scratches itself really badly, it can cause a secondary skin infection and that will need veterinary attention.

Of course your dogs itching could be completely down to something else and so it is important to check them over frequently for any sign of parasites or fleas; which are also more common in the summer months.
